Main requirements
Before installing WPML Oxygen Connector, check that your website meets the basic requirements. This prevents activation errors, blank screens, or unexpected behavior.
The plugin needs an updated WordPress installation, a compatible PHP version, and the main plugins that make up the workflow: WPML, WPML String Translation, and Oxygen Builder.
Quick checklist
- WordPress 6.4 or higher.
- PHP 8.0 or higher.
- WPML Multilingual CMS installed and active.
- WPML String Translation installed and active.
- Oxygen Builder 4 Classic or 6 installed and active.
- Languages configured in WPML.
- At least one target language available for translation.
About WPML String Translation
WPML String Translation is required because the connector works with internal builder texts. Without this module, the plugin cannot correctly register or manage Oxygen’s translatable strings.
If WPML is installed but String Translation is not, install and activate WPML String Translation before you start scanning pages.
About Oxygen Builder
WPML Oxygen Connector is designed for websites created with Oxygen Builder. It can work with modern projects in Oxygen Builder 6 and also with existing projects in Oxygen 4 Classic.
If the website does not use Oxygen, this plugin will not add value, because its function is specifically to connect Oxygen content with WPML.
Recommendation before starting
Before installing any plugin that acts on translations, make a backup of the website. This is not exclusive to WPML Oxygen Connector: it is a general best practice when working with multilingual content, builders, and complex visual structures.
