What happens when you change the original text

When you modify the source content in Oxygen, the translation catalog may become outdated until you scan again.

The plugin needs to review the page again to know which texts exist now and which translations are still valid.

Recommended steps

  1. Edit the original text in Oxygen.
  2. Save the page.
  3. Go to Tools → WPML Oxygen Connector.
  4. Scan that page.
  5. Open View strings.
  6. Review the affected strings.
  7. Update translations if necessary.
  8. Save and review the frontend.

What may happen to previous translations

If the change is small, some translations may still be valid.

If the meaning of the message has changed, it is best to review the translation manually.

If you removed an element, its old strings may disappear after the scan.

Tip

Do not change many original texts right after translating an entire website without planning. Group changes, scan, and review the affected pages.
